Lighting and Sound System in the Lakeside Gym
The Foundation is supporting this valuable addition to Lakeside. Many programs, sporting events and activities take place
in the gym. With the new equipment not only will everyone be able to hear better but many activities will enjoy improved lighting, as well as
a state of the art projection system. Please consider making a donation for the next phase of this project. Additional information is
available on our home page.
Athlete Signing Event and Luncheon:
On April 28, 2009 the Lakeside Viking Athlete Signing and Luncheon event
was held in the Media Center. This event recognizes senior student athletes that have committed or signed to
continue playing their sport in college this coming fall.
Bill Melvin, Lakeside Foundation Board member, kicked off the event by welcoming the students and
their parents, coaches, families and friends. He congratulated each of the students and parents
for their dedication to their academics and their sport. The event was then turned over to
Coach Jason Guzzardo, event organizer, who introduced each of the student athletes:
Katie Wellborn: signed to play soccer at Troy University
Austin Collier: committed to play football at Shorter College
Jason Ginn: committed to play tennis at Centre College
Two student-athletes were unable to attend the event due to the "We The People" competition in
Washington, D.C., but their accomplishments were recognized as well.
Liz Kelly: committed to swim at Emory University
Connie Park: committed to play soccer for Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Following the recognition of athletics, lunch was provided by Oak Grove
Meat Market and served by members of the Lakeside High School Foundation.

Alumni Directory - 11/07
The Lakeside High School Foundation contracted with Harris Connect to publish the first LHS Alumni Directory. During the spring
and throughout the summer graduates received letters, postcards and phone calls to obtain their updated contact information.
The directories were distributed in November 2007. The next directory will be published in five years.
Foundation Scholarships - Ongoing
Graduating seniors from the Lakeside High School Class of 2007 were the first to have the opportunity to apply for three $1,000
scholarships. The scholarships focused on the areas of Academics/Community Service, the Arts, and Athletics. These scholarships are open to any graduating senior with plans to further their education through any college/university or technical school. Applications
for the Class of 2010 will be available later in the year.
Years of Service Recognition - Ongoing
In honor of the staff and faculty that have shown their continued loyalty to the students and community of Lakeside,
the Foundation developed a program to recognize their years of service at Lakeside High School. Working with H&R Campus,
Lakeside High School’s Balfour representative, a lapel pin was created to resemble a senior ring. Pins were presented
to staff and faculty that have been at Lakeside for 5-Years, 10-Years, 20-Years, and 30-Years.
