Welcome to our newest Lakeside Foundation Board Member - Dawn Baker!
Dawn joined the LHSF Board this fall. She is also serving on the Valhalla project and was instrumental in producing the Valhalla Project website as well as the Facebook page. Dawn is the mother of two Lakeside Vikings.

Viking 5K and Fun Run!
The 4th Annual Viking 5K and Fun Run took place on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Results are now posted on the 5K page. Thanks for supporting this great community event!

LAKESIDE CONSTRUCTION MOVING ALONG...
It is so exciting to see the changes happening to Lakeside. As the our campus changes, please consider making a donation to the Valhalla Project to support the wonderful "extras" that will enhance the school. Lakeside is growing and we plan to be there to help and support the new and improved Lakeside.
SPLOST III construction has begun on our long awaited addition and renovation. Our community will be working to raise the funds for a rubberized track, an artificial turf multi-purpose field, lighting for three athletic fields, bleachers to seat 500-1000, a concession stand to serve three fields, a covered multi-sport court and other extras that our students need.
NOTICE: When making a donation via PayPal, please make a notation in the "info" box on the PayPal payment page indicating your donation to the Valhalla Project. We want to be sure the funds are designated to the correct fund. Thank you.

Erica Lesia Byas-Smith - The 2011 Lakeside Alumni Scholarship Recipient
The Lakeside Foundation is proud to recognize the accomplishments of Erica by awarding her with this year's $1,000.00 scholarship. The Lakeside Foundation evolved the original three scholarships (Academic/Community Service, Viking Award and The Arts) into one scholarship which looked for the student who was active in many areas at Lakeside, along with proven leadership and community service involvement. Have You Ordered Your Lakeside Brick? Don't Miss Out....
The Lakeside Foundation is creating the opportunity for past, present and future students and families, past, present and future to become a permanent part of Lakeside High School by purchasing commemorative bricks as a part of the Lakeside renovation. Leave a lasting impression of your child, a teacher, an athlete, club or other memorable Lakeside event. The bricks will be used in the courtyard between the new fine arts building and the gym.
This is a great way to honor a Viking or a friend of the Vikings. Click here to order your bricks.

Looking for Board Members and Committee Members
The Lakeside Foundation is looking for additional Board members and committee members. If you or someone you know has skills in marketing , accounting, administration, or an interest in alumni, The Foundation would love your help! If you would like to serve on one of the many committees, they can always use more committee members! Please contact Tara Stamps if you are interested or if you know someone who might be.

GIFTING
The LHSF gifting guideline is available as well as information on making gifts to be designated for Lakeside High School teams, clubs or other organizations. This is a great way to provide funding for our Lakeside student groups. If you have questions, please contact the LHSF.
The grant application is now available for Lakeside groups to request funding through the foundation. Additional information as well as the grant application is located on the Supporting LHSF page or the Grant page.

Annual Campaign Continues
The Foundation continues their annual fund raising campaign. These funds will continue to support our neighborhood school. Additional information is provided in a letter sent to community members in 2008. We hope you will consider making a donation to the Lakeside Foundation and continue our support for the Lakeside High School tradition of excellence.

A little bit about Lakeside...
Lakeside High School, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is part of the DeKalb County School System. LHS students have excelled in both academics and athletics since the school opened in 1965. Many awards and honors have reflected the outstanding dedication to academic and athletic excellence by the students, parents and staff. In 1985, Lakeside was honored as a State and National School of Excellence; an honor which reflects the positive relationship between the school and community.
Over 10,000 alumni have walked the halls of Lakeside High School. Currently, Lakeside has over 1900 Vikings.
In 2005, a group of interested alumni, staff and parents recognized the need to support our community high school through financial and volunteer support. This group formed the Lakeside High School Foundation and received 501(c)(3) status in 2006. We believe that the Lakeside Foundation will serve as a means to support the school and the alumni. The board is made up of alumni, parents of current students and alumni, as well as loyal Lakeside community supporters.
Mission Statement
The Lakeside High School Foundation, Inc., an independent 501(c)(3) corporation, is dedicated to expanding opportunities for students by building and distributing endowments, grants and scholarships to further educational excellence at Lakeside High School - Atlanta, Georgia.
